Wil Wheaton, actor, iconic geek guru, and pretty neat guy (yes, I'm a fan) has decided to auction off a super rare "Ensign Wesley Crusher" card. This particular card is from the 1992 Impel Star Trek: The Next Generation set, and normally sells for less than $1. What makes the current one so special is that it is the rare 1 of 1 "Sunglasses of Justice" version and signed by Wil Wheaton himself. Unfortunately it doesn't look like the card is in pristine condition, with some rough corners, but I'm sure that won't affect the value of this true rarity! We'll have to see if we can get Wil some tips on proper card storage...
All kidding aside, Mr. Wheaton had posted a picture of the card through his Twitter account and then decided to list the card on eBay. According to the colorful auction description, after finding the card in his garage, he decided to sign it but noticed that it was unfortunately now "ruined" as his signature made a line right across his face. But all was not lost, through his fantastic art skills he enhanced the card with sunglasses, thus creating the masterpiece you see above. Proving that he's an awesome guy, 100% of the final sale price is going to the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA. So go ahead and bid on this great card of an awesome guy, and support a worthwhile cause!
